Sprint Mogul gps answer...real answer

I've searched and searched. Took a break, then did some more searching but has anyone actually found the real answer to the "Does it have GPS." question? I know about gps for 911 etc but i mean does it have the ability to be unlocked and used as a standalone gps device with no need to purchase as seperate receiver? What is the definate answer. Yes and why or no and why.

there is no definate answser till the rev A updates is realsed then will know if it has it or not. sprint says it has it and everyone here seems to think it doesn't and since neither of us here work for htc or sprints ppc team. we can't answer your question the way you want it. :( sorry

No. The 6800 has been disassembled and checked, and it's only for the 911 shit. It's just a locator aid.

Actually it is only capable and probably will be unlocked as being A-GPS only. Still good enough for most people, if Sprint chooses to do so.

Cicatrize, where did you hear that? I haven't been able to locate a thread about that with pics.

Sprint needs to "poo(edit for the kiddies) or get off the pot" with this update.

Not sure why but that thread sounded sort of inconclusive, with some believing they were positive it did not have it, with others saying the GPS was part of a multi-purpose antenna... But it is probably AGPS enabled for applications. The time table for the possible "enabling of GPS" and also arrival of Telenav seems to suggest it is A-GPS. But it might mean we could use mgmaps.

first off the thread title is misleading. second off, sprints in it to suck money out of us. even if it has gps (reports out there that the chip can do both types), sprint will probably only enable agps so people will have to use telenav

i work for a sprint dealer just took some training the mogul has gps for like telenav but u have to buy a 100 bluetooth gps adapter when the rev a update comes out it will activate the gps chip inside and u wont need to have the adapter

What are you talking about? The chipset has GPS built in and supports 4 different GPS modes not including A-GPS.

The people who originally took it apart and said there was no GPS was because they thought it was unplugged. There was no actual investigation or anything.

wouldnt you be using the GPS from the adapter? you would be using the phone for data to retrieve information, but the receiver would be doing all the GPS stuff. is this right?
