small problems with my mogul

I have done a little searching around, I have noticed a couple people mention the not waking up out of sleep mode, freezing up, and the occasional no sound bits when i receive messages. I have only had the phone a few days, still dont have many programs downloaded. The only app i have installed is IM+, has anyone confirmed if there is a way of fixing these issuses or am I stuck just doing the soft reset till an update arrives?
