tweaking 6800 video camera

2 Attachment(s)
Last night I attended the RATM concert (side note: holy crap!) and took a couple videos with my 6800. THEY SUCK. Today I am seeing watchable quality videos on youtube from other people. Is there no way to take a usable video on the 6800 camera?

I know the max resolution is 176x144 or whatever, and I know about the reg key to change framerate. I'm more wondering how to squeeze the best quality for a concert-type environment out of both the camera and microphone. I see that there are several different codecs listed in the camera options and I may test at the bar tonight and see how each captures a loud dark environment...

Anyone have any other tips or ideas besides changing the codec? Or can anyone further explain the builtin camera options (specifically for video) - I am no camera expert.

I previously tried to film some of a Tool concert on my MotoQ and it was pretty comparable to what came off the 6800...not worth watching.

still pictures came out ok i guess, but not as good as i think they should be. this could be mostly because it was impossible to hold perfectly still while shooting. i also ran default settings, did not change white balance or lighting mode or anything. what would better settings be?

you should change the settings, the mogul has a bad habit of over sharpening

heres my settings

White Balance: Daylight
I assume putting it in auto will create more lag between button push and actual recording of the image

Resolution: 2M

Quality: Super Fine
I dont really notice a deference with any setting so i go with this one cause it sounds good :D

Flicker: 60hz

Adjust Contrast: +4

Adjust Saturation: +3

Adjust Hue: +3

Adjust Sharpness: +1
Ive noticed that when it is on max, it does infact sharpen the photo, but at the extent of causing blotting light

Is there a way to change video resolution AT ALL?

The camera combined with the hardware on this phone is capable of near HD video. Unfortunately HTC is very secretive about it and keeps its camera API from the public. They also chose not to support Windows camera API which virtually shuts out any third party developments.

Increase the FrameRate:

HKey Local Machine\Software\HTC\Camera\ReParam\MP4Large (or Medium or Small).
Change the FramRate value from 10 to 19
*don't exceed 19

thanks!

thanks, was already at 15, but 19 looks a little better!

strange that there's a large setting in the registry cause I only get small and medium options in the (video) camera settings.

So is it impossible to change the recording resolution higher than the default setting?
