6.5 help

Hi, I want to install 6.5 on my phone. This is something that I need help with though. I have the HTC Titan and my phone provider is Alltel. I don't even know where to start so if someone can help me that would be greatly appreciated.

Re: 6.5 help

You start here:

http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=32382

The first link in this link is the one you will spend most if not all of your time in. Basically there are 3 major steps that you will have to go through.

1. Unlock Your Phone
2. Update Your Radio
3. Flash a New ROM (There are many roms from several different "chefs". Some roms are made for specific carriers. You would look for an Altell rom. Or You can install a rom and then run the carrier cab for your carrier.)

The Link above is going to be your best resource. However, if you need a question answered, just ask. This site has a great search feature which I suggest you use before asking because someone may have already had that question answered in another post.

Re: 6.5 help

Thats pretty much the steps you need to do it. Make sure you read and understand everything. Of course we are always here to help though. Ive got 6.5 on mine with VZW but about ready to re-do it. IDK if it is the ROM I cooked that has bugs of the kitchen in general when it comes to 6.5.

Its much more intimidating than difficult. Follow the instructions that the folks have already given you and you should have no problems. I labored over the "Flash to a new ROM" idea for a long time before I took the plunge. I am on Alltel also and I would recommend updating to their latest ROM first, then unlock and flash your desired 6.5 ROM. If you do that, you'll make sure you have the latest radio and that one is really easy to do, as long as you have an active sync connection. Of course, based on when you got your 6800, you may already have the latest radio.

I feel as though you should be warned... Once you find out how easy it is, you'll find yourself consumed with flashing the latest or most nifty ROM. I flashed about 5 different versions of 6.5 before I decided to go back to the Stock Alltel ROM. LOL. Anyway, have fun.

Re: 6.5 help

I also have been pondering updating my phone. ( i love what i have seen 6.5 looks like ) I have had PDAs for years starting with the 6700, 6800, and 6900 all with Alltel and now with the merger I have switched over to the Verizon 6900 but never besides the occational game cab download did much with updating them besides the updates that have been released by the carrier. Is this the same basic steps for all Windows Mobile Devices since mine is a Touch and you all have 6800? Otherwise i have a few questions:
1. What is the best unlocker to use?
2. How do you update your radio? from what I have seen through the threads I have Verizons most up to date Radio in 3.37.78
3. When Flashing the roms are they usually in .exe form or i have seen like lists of other cab files it shows to download. Are these usually what is pre-cooked in the cabs?

Any answers would be great but so far this is the best thread for explaining this issue.

Re: 6.5 help

Please ask in the vogue section and not the titan section. If you install 6800 stuff on your vogue you are likely to have a new paperweight.

It is basically the same for both devices but you need to get your unlocker from the Vogue forum. You would be better served to ask the update questions over here to get CORRECT answers. I can tell you what I think works on that device but it may not be exactly correct.
