*228 doesnt work, post with answers not available

So this is really 2 part I guess. One being the phone issue, the other being the forum issue, either of which may solve it all.

I have a 6800 currently running btonetbone 6.5 23001 with olli 2.4 and radio 3.42.50 on Verizon

Back in the dcd 2.0 days I accidentally DID let the sprint customizations run. Ever since then I have not been able to do *228 and everytime my phone starts to roam i go on "Americas roaming network" or something like that. Well this issue has gotten to the point where it needs to be fixed. I did some searching and found SEVERAL posts (like this http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=26483)that explain how people fixed this... Most of them referenced http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=20090. Whenver I try to go to the 20090 post though I get an 'you do not have permission to access this page.' error.

I have tried re-installing the carrier rom to fix this, but that did not help.

Are these instructions up anywhere else on how to fix this mess? Or anyone know why I am getting that error?

Thanks for using my ROM! Although I am personally on Alltel, I may be able to point you in the correct direction. I included something called Phone Codes on there, so you will be able to easily update your PRL manually. There is a thread here with the latest Verizon PRLs and you should be able to download this and update through Start -> Phone Codes -> PRL (775). You may want to read through the following thread to ensure it works with the 6800.

http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=50076

The unlock code on Alltel to get into the PRL program is 000000. Not sure if it's different on Verizon.

Good luck.

EDIT - If that doesn't work, you may want to re-lock your phone, go back to stock, unlock again and try from there. I can't guarantee that'll work, though.

for others who may be in the same position as me:

*228 will never work again, you have to do it manually.
First get you code (its not 000000 anymore) with the link here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=366667
now that you have that, you should follow this strategy:
http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=50076

but... incase that goes down, here are the instructions (quoted):

1. Unzip the PRL from the zip file and copy it to your device or storage card.
2. Dial ##PRL<SEND> (##775<SEND>) on your phone.
3. Enter your MSL unlock code (should be 000000 or six zeros) in the password box and select OK from the left soft key.
4. Select the Update PRL item by tapping or clicking on it with the stylus. Once it it highlighted, select the right soft key labeled Menu and select Edit from the pop-up menu (you could also tap and hold on the item and select Edit from the pop-up menu).
5. Select the Browse button when the dialog appears, then select the 51250m PRL from the list when the list appears. If the file does not appear, make sure the storage card is inserted correctly and that the phone is not connected with the USB cable.
6. Select the OK left soft key.
7. Select the Menu right soft key then select OK from the pop-up menu
8. A dialog box will appear indicating the phone will reboot.
9. Enjoy the new PRL. You can go to Device Information (see question above) to verify the PRL is being used. It will read 51425 in the status screen, not 51425m.

you have to get the file from his thread which is linked above. Thanks for your help and wonderful rom btonetbone. When i get a chance to see if my problem is fixed, i'll update this post.

*228 will work again if you fix it right. You do have other solutions for verizon other than uploading manually. Also if you code is not 000000 then you need to change it with qpst. If this is the only problem then you wont have to reflash.

If flashing in needed. Guessing you have a sprint pri then.
First relock and restore phone to pre gps. http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=21161
Then unlock and install gps radio and rom.

Also if you code is not 000000 then you need to change it with qpst. If this is the only problem then you wont have to reflash.

Is it possible just his dialer is screwed and he needs another dialer. Remember that some dialers wont work with the codes.

I thought all dialers handle *228 it is just the ## codes that some dialers dont take. Am I wrong with this.

I had a black diamond dial pad once that wouldnt do any damn thing. But its just an idea.

I can confirm the dialer does NOT respond to ##, but luckily btonetbone has all the dialer codes shortcutted, and those work. Will try a relock and all in a few days to see if that fixes it.

So annoying to get 'americas roaming network' and nothing working whenver I go on roaming.

Re: *228 doesnt work, post with answers not available

My PRL version is 51425 and my PRI version is 2.00_003
If there is a value associated with those other than version, i'm not sure how to find it out.
