Mogul & WinXP

Ok, so I was on Vista, and everything worked perfectly for the mogul. However, other app problems and little annoyances have prompted me to downgrade to Windows XP for a while. Maybe the next forced reinstall Ill go back to vista.

Anyway. I installed ActiveSync 4.5 onto Windows XP, but XP is not recognizing my mogul. It puts in "Windows Mobile Based Device" but errors like its an unknown device.

Any help would be appreciated.

have u tried soft reset then connect to AS again? sometimes AS gives me errors, but nothing a soft reset and plugging it back in shouldnt fix. XP should automatically detect it.

if all else fails, try reinstalling AS or deleting your current profile and creating a new one.

Is your XP version updated to SP2 - on a non SP2 laptop I had an AS problem but fixed it with getting patch current.

XP is upgraded as far as it will go. Like most other Mogulites out there, I have to soft reset my mogul at least once every few days, if not daily.

Only thing I can try next is to uninstall re-install activesync. Cant delete the profile because I usually delete all users and rename and take over the administrator login on my machine (saves headaches later) to date that has never caused a problem, so I dont see why it would now.

Ill give those two options a try tonight and get back to you. If it doesnt work, then I guess as sherlock holmes says "If all options have been eliminated, then the last one, no matter how unlikely, must be the truth. Which means Ill probably have to restore the admin account and create a seperate user/admin account for me to try in.
