How do I...

keep the phone from switching from phone mode to data mode? I would like to keep the unit in the phone connect mode unless I specifically place it in data mode. Occasionally, I will wake the phone up and it will be in the data transfer mode (left / right arrows next to the signal bars instead of the satellite picture.

And...

Is there a way to clear or decrease the number of programs displayed that have been opened / accessed when you press the start button? It shows 8 recently accessed programs. I would like these to either not be there, or select a fewer number displayed.

And...when the phone goes into sleep / hibernate mode, is pressing the power button the only way to wake it up? I've tried pressing other buttons like the call or end, but it doesn't seem to work.

Are the above registry tweaks? If so, please outline the changes required.

Thanks.

I remove the data mode on mine. This is what I do:

Start/Settings/Connections/Connections
-Click on Manage Existing Connections
-You should see you data connection settings (says #777 for me)
-click on the first tab and click delete settings.

No more accidental data.

but then he'll have to add it in order to connect the phone.
If he doesn't want to use data at all,
that's one way to do it.
Otherwise search for "NoData.cab"
it allows you to switch data on and off without having to mess with any settings yourself.
