All set, almost

Thanks to many of you, I've updated my ROM and radio, activated my phone.

I've got the 3.52 ROM with WM6.1 from the HTC site. (Should I have a different ROM, or is this sufficient?)

I'm able to connect to Internet now via WiFi with my in-home router (good enough for now), don't want to start paying Alltel yet for the data plan; I might spring for the $40/month data / msg plan.

Now, my issue / ? is GPS.

Do I have to download a GPS program? How do I go about starting my GPS program, etc?

Thanks

An earlier reply to another of my posts stated that GPS and Internet would work with WiFi alone. Don't know though about the GPS, but the Inet does work with WiFi.

GPS program?

Thanks

Re: All set, almost

Using standard GPS does not need data and should work just fine.

However, programs such as Live Search and Google Maps need to access data in order to download maps. Programs such as Garmin and Tomtom store the entire maps on your SD card (upwards of 1 gb of data) and do not require data.

Enabling aGPS (discussed in some of the threads here, where you download a program called QPST to your computer and adjust some deep settings on your phone) will cause GPS to use data, so do not enable that unless you get a plan.

Hope that helps!
