Re: GPSToday not showing map

I don't use the today screen plugin, just the stand alone app. My maps are working fine..... Have you tried the stand alone app vs the plug in? I assume they are one in the same as far as the map rendering, but worth a shot.

Re: GPSToday not showing map

GPSToday works fine for me as long as I have an internet connection. Tedious as it may be, I pan and zoom the maps while I'm on WIFI at my house and cache the map tiles. According to GeoTerrestrial, they're working on a solution to be able to pre-load maps that can be used offline. That move would make GPSToday a COMPLETE solution for me so I got my fingers crossed!.......

Re: GPSToday not showing map

I have unlimited data plan and I have wifi on and connected. Yes i have tried the standalone map and I get the same result. It is like it cant connect to the google maps server or it cant download the maps for some reason. no one else has this problem?

Hmm, not sure. Just so you know, they get their maps from Microsoft Virtual Earth. Might try emailing them here:

Re: GPSToday not showing map

The most recent beta 0.9.9.7 (standalone only) uses MS maps, which are fully supported going forward (and includes satellite/hybrid views as well). Google has withdrawn support for its maps which are used in earlier versions of GPSToday.

We are working feverishly to release the today-plugin version with MS maps, we will announce on this forum as soon as it is out.

Thanks

How do you cache the tiles, just go and look on google maps where you are going before you leave?
let me know when they make preloaded maps because thats exactly what I need seeing as I get no reception while hiking.
