Updated to 6.5 21728 - No GPS?

I just got done flashing and went to connect using Google Maps. No connection. Downloaded and got QuickGPS installed and that didn't change anything.

Read up on the GPS sticky and it states that the ROM needs to be 3.16.651.0+, (Radio is good) but the device lists the ROM as 3.08.666.1. Is the new 6.5 not using the most up-to-date ROM?

I did have the GPS working when I first flashed to 6.1 MR1, and then it stopped working randomly one day and since then it's been unable to connect.

Are you using agps. Did you install the vahalla and telus cabs.

I do not believe i am. I was under the impression that GPS was activated "out of the box" with the 6.5 update. I'm familiar with the vahalla cab, but what does the telus do? Where could i find the most updated versions of those cabs?

Thanks for the quick response!

If you have a data plan then agps is what you want. http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...&postcount=703

very simple answer. there is a good thread at xda. basicly mr1 is a pos verizon rom with bilt in agps locks locks. there was a work around written for the gps locks.
you dont need the work around for any roms you get here.
to get your gps working again and much faster then before, simply downgrade to the original verizon none mr1 rom, also at xda, then upgrade to any 6.1 or 6.5 you will be very happy with the full power of the agps/built-in gps.
simply put down grade none mr1 then upgrade to any dcd(God) rom or any 6.5

Sweet. Thats good to know. I've been having issues with my keyboard (and its not like i can complain about the gps to verizon) so they are sending me a new phone tomorrow. I'll see how everything goes!

i am also experiencing issues with the GPS on the xv6800. I got a new phone about 3 months back and haven't been able to get it working since. With all of the reading i've been doing recently on activating the GPS i'm now starting to get a bit annoyed.

I've installed the MR1 update, install Valhalla and also installed the update you referenced above. Is there anything else I can do to figure out what might be going on? I really appreciate the help - this is driving me nuts!!

EDIT: Forgot to mention, I was on 6.5 21728 and had the GPS issues as well. I've since downgraded to MR1 and proceeded per the recommendations above.

You need to do this. I think the Verizon block is causing problems since you did have custom on the phone.

Then reinstall the MR1 or custom. But do not go MR1 then to custom. Make sure location is on under phone and make sure data connection is active.

Re: Updated to 6.5 21728 - No GPS?

I'll give this a run now and let you know how it goes - THANK YOU!!

Update: I just completed all the steps as you said. Re-unlocked the phone and flashed the custom ROM - now i'm stuck at the Verizon screen. This is becoming a troubling process. I'll do some searching on the forums and try to get back out of this and restart the process.

Update 2: Beyond annoyed at this point. I've flashed back to the stock ROM twice following the instructions above to a T. I've re-unlocked the phone three times now, have flashed it using three different custom ROMS and everyone of them get's my phone stuck on the Verizon Bootscreen or the custom rom's boot screen. Any ideas??
