Divx/Xvid video clipping/stuttering issues on TCPMP/Mogul

Hey all. When I attempt to use tcpmp to play a divx/xvid file I get only about 2 to 3 frames per second. Audio is fine. Here's specs on on the type of file I'm trying to play:
Location: storage Card
Format: DIVX (.avi)
Duration: 41 minutes (it's an episode of Hero's)
Filesize: 87 megs (pretty small I think for a "1hr" tv episode)
Video: MPEG4
Codec: CoreASP
Video size: 320x180
Framerate: 29.970
Audio: MP3
Format: 22050 Hz Mono
Databit rate: 24 kbit/s

After playing for a few seconds TCPMP also says this:
Played frames: 616
Dropped Frames: 8
Played FPS 29.581

System RAM is about 17 to 20 megs usually. I have not installed the new ROM, but I can't imagine that should do anything. Storage card is Kensington 2Gig MicroSD. I do have the 5/6 multitab Touch home screen plugin stuff also if any of that makes a difference.

Now it may be playing them all but I'm only seeing like 3 frames per second. I don't know if it's a codec thing , settings thing, or my version of TCPMP (which is 0.72RC1 by the way). Am I the only one with this problem. Without my video moving smoothly I'd rather not even watch it. I get so jealous hearing all you others talk of your cool Slingboxes working great over the internet, but I can't seem to get a local movie to work?

(also unrelated: this site seems to load so slowly versus anyother site I'm on. I'm on highspeed and it seems just this site. Scrolling is slooow and everything about it seems slow. I don't mind just wondering if again there is something I need to "check" somewhere in my browser. Also I'm referring to my desktop not the phone for browsing this site.)

In TCPMP under Options->Video what setting are you using? I'm running a very similar file at well over 20fps. DirectDraw works well but GDI gives me great frame rates. Raw FrameBuffer sucks though..

BTW I did install all of the codecs from http://picard.exceed.hu/tcpmp/test/ when I installed TCPMP so maybe that is the problem?

even with the GDI setting, it's not a 100%. i find that converting videos to iPod format, and then playing with WMP works best. I can even get my videos to play w/o any lipsync issues!

but i dont mind it too much, since I dont use it to watch videos that much.

That worked switching it to GDI instead of what it was on (Raw Framebuffer) but now my audio is out of sync by a second or so. I tried multiple videos and I know that on my desktop they are not out of sync.

My other video settings are (checked in the "options>video" menu):
Smooth Zoom (only 50%) check
Smooth Zoom (Always) Not Checked
Dither: Check
Quality: Normal check
GDI: Check
Streams: Video1 check

Audio settings:
Stereo check
Wave output check
Streams Audio 1 check
Those are the only things checked on that menu

Pixel Aspect Ratio: SQUARE

If there are any other meaningful settings I can get them. I went to the link you provided (and thank you for doing so) and could not determine which of those cabs had the codec. They seemed more like the full programs for the various OS's.

I do have a folder from a while ago when I first started reading people having problems with TCPMP, mentioning using WM5/WMV9 codecs so I downloaded those which were two files:
wmadecoder.dll and wmvdecoder.dll
I've not installed those (which I belive go in the Windows folder on the mogul if I'm not mistaken.) I didn't want to do that until I got advice from the boards here that it was ok replacing the "newer" codec with older WM5 codecs. I'll attach the files if it lets me.

Thanks for any additional input. Joe

There was a related post over on PDAPhonehome regarding out of sync audio. Click here to go there

Maybe that will help?

Thanks, I think that -400 setting change at that forum fixed it. Now all is in sync and video is flowing smoothly! Dang, there are sooo many forums to keep up with just for this phone. I enjoy it all, but it's so overwhelming between here, sprintusers, pdaphonehome, howardforums, xdadevelopers and I'm sure others. I love the phone and now all I need is slingbox and some home security surveillance camera stuff. Gadgets are cool!

Wow, this phone just gets better and better! Only thing is that the frame rate is a bit low, not quite 2-3 like the original poster, maybe 20fps. I have it set to GDI as well. But just kinda jitters some frames every now and then.

Well, fixed that quickly. Turned the Video Quality to Low, and its running smooth with no skips. Not sure if I can look at it THAT pixelated, but it'll do!
