Windows Live sync and battery life

On my 700wx, in order to get "push" email from windows live you had to be signed in to MSN Messenger 24/7, which naturally drains the battery heavily.

My question is, does the 6800 do the same thing if you set the Windows Live sync status to "As items arrive" (without being signed in to MSN Messenger), or is the 6800 actually using real push email (so that the battery is not really affected)?

I don't have to be signed in. I just set it to send me my mail every 4 hours and it does it no problem.

I don't think you need to be signed in, but as items arrive will still drain the battery fast.

that depends on how many items you have arrive in a day.

the email address that i use with OWA only receives 3-6 messages per day, and I do not notice a drain on my battery.

i learned on my motoQ not to sync contacts to OWA, or your phone will activesync with exchange server anytime you call a contact, or change the last action (call, txt, etc). ie every time i hang up a call, OWA synchronizes. This might not be a big deal in EVDO areas, but as I am in 1xRTT, this is very slow, and means I cant receive calls while it progresses.
