XV6800 newb user questions

Ok so I've been searching around all the savvy sites and I'm starting to get it yet I don't...

I just got the xv6800 and have been having app issues... I understand there are some "tweaks" available to adjust my ppc in a more user friendly/ more versatile phone... However, I have no idea how to input the "hacks/tweaks". Will someone plz help me?

Also will these "hacks" ever run a risk of damaging, slowing, or crashing my phone?

I love this phone but it seems that verizon has limited its app use to only vzw made apps, thus making it difficult to load any cool ppc apps and making vzw rich all the meanwhile... and the so called vzw "technical support" people don't know more than the manual that I've picked up and read myself, sooo...

I'm a quick learner with a lot of patience plz help! Thanks for all your input!

Well, first of all, welcome! You are in a position that we were all in once upon a time. Except No2, Mighty, Rico, BAF, some others... they were born this way. You'll probably want to start by reading a few of the tutorials in the Titan Upgrading section. (Under stickies) As for screwing up your device, yes, its always possible. But, with patience, and following directions to the "T" you should be good to go in no time.

HERE is a complete list of tweaks and hacks for the WM5/6/6.1 and you will need a registry editor to change or adjust them. I use Resco but there are several free ones out there like Total Commander

Please get a backup app to save your contacts, etc before starting to add software/hacks. Eventually you are going to need to hard reset which wipes the device clean.

Welcome to Geekdom! Can't overemphasize demon's advice enough. SPB and Resco both make outstanding backup apps. They're not free, but worth their weight in gold when (notice I don't say "if") a hard reset becomes necessary. Some users will recommend PIMBackup, but this only backs up PIM data (contacts, notes, calendar), and not your apps, device settings, reg settings, etc. Also recommend a cleanup app (SKTools or MemMaid), especially in light of the fact that the 6800 has somewhat limited memory and you'll want to keep as much of that available as possible. Finally, get a file manager, such as Total Commander (freeware) or Resco Explorer ( commercial).

Look for a peice of software called Advanced Configuraton Tools as it will do a lot of those and is an app in GUI form so it makes it easier for most ppl. And its a free app.
