Macbook (OS X) compatible?
I'm starting college in a month and of course I have to buy a laptop to replace my desktop (Windows). And I'm thinking on getting a Macbook Pro, but if I get the Mac will I still be able to sync my PPC-6800? I really hope it does because I am seriously thinking on switching over to the Mac side of things and it would suck if my phone (which I love to death) isn't compatible.

It syncs perfectly well if you have Missing Sync. Its an additional cost but it works really well and will sync iPhoto albums, iTunes playlists, contacts, calenders and everything else. Its a really nice app and well worth the money.

OH GOOD GOD THANK YOU! Do you also think this app would work with my Nintendo DS?

They have a version for Sony PSP - they might make one for DS if you ask nicely. :)

You can also install Boot Camp on your Mac. Since the new Macbooks are Intel-based, they can now dual boot Windows and Mac OS X, using Apple's Boot Camp software (it's free). Or you can buy Parallels Desktop, which will allow you to create a virtual machine that you can boot Windows in. Both of these options are better than Missing Sync in my opinion, because you'll be able to not only sync your favorites, contacts, etc., but you'll be able to install software (.exe, .msi, etc.) on your 6800 through ActiveSync, which you can't do with Missing Sync. Missing Sync will allow you to copy .cab files over to your Macbook, but you won't be able to do .exe or .msi installers. Also, both Boot Camp and Parallels are extremely easy to use, so you can be up and running with ActiveSync in no time. |
