or anything similar? Do they actually work?

Expensive little thing. I thought I've seen them (or some other imitation) for like half that price at one of my local electronic stores.

But the question still stands - do they actually do anything?

My friends and I got one of these from somewhere quite a few months ago for a penny. It didn't work on any of the phones we tried it on at all.
It was a while ago and I don't remember the exact phones, but pretty much the ones you got really cheap or free from cell companies a year or 2 ago.

Are there any other options instead of shelling out $300 for a signal extender?

you should email them and see if they could work something out with you, tell them that your interested but wanna try and see if it works. then ask if they have a gurentee cause if it really works then its yours.

Had a problem with getting barely one bar - stuck 6 of them in my wife's phone (aa samsung flip phone) and it amped up to a solid 2 bars - bought em on ebay - six pack for $1.50.....for a few bucks, they are worth a try...

While you are looking maybe you could pick up one of those "Radiation Blockers"... you know, the ones that "block 99% of radiation and other electromagnetic energy emitted by cell phones".

Sorry, both products remind me of tinfoil hats but I would be real interested in a SCIENTIFIC experiment to see if the boosters work. I just don't see how putting a sticker in my phone would increase it's reception, even a sticker that had some copper in the vague shape of a circuit.

i think they sort of work for gsm phones, not for cdma. i remember reading that somewhere

I'm with you again i dont remember where i read it either but its basically an electromagnet (well it turns ur battery into one) and that helps the signal... but i can say whatever phone you stick it on ti does negatively effect the battery life... that i can say definitivly
