SprintTV!?

A thread over at XDA got me curious and tinkering into a halfway working setup!

Quote:
I switched from a 700p to a HTC Mogul and miss only one thing now. There was this little known secret to get free MobiTV and Sirius music by going to these websites ...

Code:
http://qtv.mobitv.com/sprintTVlive.mcd

ALL Sprint TV Live from MobiTV (including cable channels like TLC, Discovery, etc ...)

Code:
http://ss.siriusradio.com/Main_Menu.mcd

SOME Sirius streams too.

On any Sprint Palm device, when you go to either site in Blazer, it will open Kinoma player and give you the channel lists. No cracking or hacking necessary, these are public streams and do not bill your account.

Is there a way to stream .mcd data into Windows Media or equivalent?

So I installed StyleTap onto my mogul, and kinoma, and it works!
... sorta.

The MCD file must be opened on a windows machine, and you have to manually enter one of the streams..
rtsp://live.mobitv.com:554/31-CDMA.sdp

and it plays..

any idea which app is supposted to handle the MCD file and how to parse it to see the whole playlist?

Do we have any way of pulling the java app off of a current model phone and running it on the Mogul? I would love to have Sprint TV on my Mogul.

So with a Google search I found an article that seems like it could help, the problem is I haven't been an ACM member since 2003. Here is what I found, anyone an ACM member want to d/l this and share it, or anyone care to spend the $10 for the article? Here is the Google rundown...

ACM: Digital Library: Communications of the ACM
In our final design, the application parses an XML file to construct the user ... The MCD allows Sprint to easily change the nomenclature and content tree ...

This sounds really interesting! I figure any options we have to make our phones any more amazing than they are already is always welcome. Thanks for the info to start I am going to look into this and ifI gain any progress I will do a write up on my site. If anyone else would like to do a write up on tis or anything else I will gladly post it on my blog. I'd like to really get as much info on there as possible including software for the Mogul.

And for the Sirius one, do you have to have an existing Sirius membership? Is this like where you log in to your browser and tune in?
