In the interest of "an ounce of prevention" I keep a small ziplock bag folded in my wallet. In rainy conditions it provides a nice "raincoat" for my 6700 (Mogul on it's way) on rainy days, and has probably saved me $500 in deductables in the past month with all this Louisiana "liquid sunshine"...

the battery 1 is to the left of the contacts or if you have the contact side facing you then look to the right you will see a white dot.

Wow, I didn't realize that these phones are that susceptible to rain. Certainly a dunking in the commode is abuse, but I would have thought that they could stand being out in the rain a little.

Just got mine a couple of days ago, and Sprint managed to port my VZW number over in < 1hr...which was pretty cool. Now (with much help from you studs on this board) I've got to learn how to tune this beast up!

Is there some way to use some sort of covering (I'm thinking clear plastic 3M tape or duct tape) to cover these indicators? For example, my girlfriend had a Verizon Razor and she had a hard time returning it due to the "water damage" indicator, even though there was no damage to the phone and it was turned red since she probably talked while in the rain...

Allright, so today, I got caught in a horrible storm. Phone got soaked...
Mind telling me where you get the idea that it was just a LITTLE rain that caused this?

if your phone hadnt fried yet, it would have been ok had you read my post and not been turning it on and off and playing with it while you could still see a wet and a dry spot under teh screen like you stated. i thought the entire population realized by now that electrical current and water dont mix. a phone with no battery in it is a peice of plastic and silicon. water doesnt hurt plastic and silicon. it sounds to me like you needed to be patient and use common sense to dry your phone out and instead you ruined it and spent $50 to now have a refurb unit.

this should be a lesson to everyone else. ive taken computers apart and put them through a dishwasher before. you just have to let it dry out. use common sense, people.

Meh, I doubt Asurion has any Refurb'd 6800's just yet cause the device is so new. However I agree with drying it COMPLETELY. I dropped my 6700 in a puddle once and it died immediately. I yanked the battery out and took it home. At home I tore it apart completely and let it dry in front of a big fan. The screen took the longest to dry out... right around 22 hours. After it all was completely dry I slapped it all back together and she fired right up good as new.

I was so excited that it still worked... less than a week later I dropped it and the screen shattered.

Thanks for being there for me Asurion!
