SD Card / RAM???

This might be a stupid question. I tried searching the forum but couldn't find any info. My question is because the lack of performance comes form the lack of RAM in the 6800. Is there any way to make the PPC6800 run off the SD card? That would be more than 4 times the memory of the RAM?

So can you load the OS on the SD card? If so would it improve the performance. Or was it just a really dumb question.

Re: SD Card / RAM???

Upgrading may not be an option for OP. To answer your question, the OS cannot be loaded onto the SD card. Memory can be an issue with the Mogul/Titan/6800. You may be having a problem with an accumulation of junk files (internet debris, etc). A clean up app will help clean this up. MemMaid (www.dinarsoft.com) and SKTools (www.s-k-tools.com) are popular around these parts. Also, install as many apps as possible to your SD card, except for those that run on start up.

Re: SD Card / RAM???

I use memmaid (dinersoft) at it works out really well with a ton of crap installed. Sometimes I have to use the cleanup to run garmin but its quicker than a soft reboot.

Re: SD Card / RAM???

you don't need a special rom to install to sd card. when you run the cab file, just choose to install to sd card "memory card" instead of device

Re: SD Card / RAM???

I don't think I am getting it cause on Kitchen it installs everything on to the device by default. I don't' know what I am doing wrong. Sorry.

Re: SD Card / RAM???

I don't think you're doing anything wrong. Any app that's cooked into the ROM is going to install to the device, since it's part of the ROM. If you want to install an app to the SD card, leave it out of your ROM and install separately
