XP is Active sync I beleive, I run Vista at home and here at work and the device center works flawlessly for me. Of course thats a whole ymmv thing I guess. For me I just had to select what I wanted to sync after setting up the relationship and I typed all of my contacts from my Katana into Outlook 2007. Then I synced the mogul and after a soft reset everything was there and all the information was in the right places as well. Hopefully it should let me keep all of the info the same between my home pc, and my work pc

grey contacts

To any one wo was not able to re-activesync because the contact option is greyed out.

Instructions below:

1. delete partnership between ppc and pc.

2. export contacts on outlook to .pst file and save to desktop.

3. delete contacts in outlook by doing a select all and delete.

3a. not sure if this had anything to do with it but it was a step I took and it worked in the end. Un-sync any email accounts with outlook. You will want no email accounts tied to your outlook.

4. Reestablish a partnership between your ppc and your pc but DESELECT the contacts box (that means leave it unchecked).

5. Reimport you contacts into outlook by going to
file
import export

and choose the .pst file you saved on your desktop.

6. unplug you ppc from you pc and go into the activesync otions on you ppc and now RESELECT "contacts".

7. Plug your ppc back into your pc and re-sync. it should now copy your contacts back onto your device.

8. (optional)
this step might not be needed if you didn't do step
3a.
Resync your email accounts back into outlook.

This was done with a pc using xp and outlook 07 as well as a pc using xp and outlook 03. Hope this helps!
