Available RAM different based on SD ?

ugh. undelete.. i thought it stopped after i uninstalled the htc touch dialer.

basically, softreboot, 19.67mb ram, i take out my SD card and now i have 21.78

why are 2mb of ram lost to having a SD card inserted..

Not sure why you see a 2mb drop with yours ... I only see about a .1 - .3mb drop in free ram on mine.

Are you using encryption on your SD card? ... and ... Do you install most of your programs on your SD card or on your internal memory?

all my programs are installed on internal memory, the only thing on the card is mp3s and cab files.

i have no encryption on the card or anything...

i just formatted my card, and it is exhibiting the same exact behavior... with no data on it..

can anyone else check.. any ideas as to what programs might be causing this..?

My SD cards shows ~800 KB being used in RAM.

why is any memory being used when the SD is inserted.. even 800kb-1mb is alot.. especially if the card were blank like mine..

I am not sure, and I may be way off, but doesn't windows have to have some sort of program or piece of code run to allow the SD card to be accessible? This would account for some of the RAM usage, but I don't know how that would constitute the 2mb you say is being used.

I'm pretty sure you are correct about this. Also, if you have any programs that sense the SD card like meters and such then they will take up a little bit of RAM.
