sleep mode nightmare
I have a ppc6800 from alltel. I have tried to put many different version of custom and stock firmware on my phone and nothing seems to solve the problem of my phone going into sleep mode and not coming back out without a soft reset. Is this a hardware problem or software? I have read and searched the forum but have not found a solution. I would appreciate anyone's help on this.

Since you have tried different software, I'm thinking this might be hardware related. Have you tried changing advanced power settings? Maybe uncheck turning the device off.

I had this issue with an Apache. Replacemnt warrenty or Insurance is needed, no software will fix it. Hardware related.
