Noob Radio Freq. Question

Hi all,
Ive been wondering this for some time and cant seem to find anything searching the forums.
I know our Cell Phones all use several specific digital radio frequencies for talk, bluetooth, wi-fi etc. They're pretty powerful little transievers.

My question is;
Since we're able to hack the device's ROM and registry so easily, is there a way to modify the frequencies it uses?
For instance you could change the bluetooth transmission freq. to transmit powerfully on FM or Radio HD frequencies thus eliminating the need for an external FM Transmitter.
Or maybe change the frequency of wi-fi radio to receive FM, AM, HAM, Shortwave, Police, Fire, Aircraft or similar?

Just wondering because a radio is still a radio right? and if its all digitally controlled why cant we change the "Station"??

This may be a stupid question to some, but I've always wondered why no one has mentioned this. MY only thought is the possibility of some kind of hardware restriction preventing this.

Thanks for any input. Any specifics would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Noob Radio Freq. Question

Because the software is limited and the hardware is designed for only a certain frequency output.

Re: Noob Radio Freq. Question

So your saying there IS some type of hardware restriction? the freq. cannot be changed at all correct? I have a Large digital tuner at home that picks up 100mhz to something like 900,000mhz.. all tv, radio, aircraft, HAM, shortwave, etc. But it cannot transmit. I thought the phone could possibly be "tuned" too.. must have freq. specific crystals or the like i assume.. Prob why my Digital tuner is the size of a VCR. thanks for confirming this tho.

Re: Noob Radio Freq. Question

Right. It's only designed and perfected to transmit a certain frequency. If you want to hook up your phone to say a car radio a simple way is to buy an adapter from moguldepot.com and hook a male-to-male aux cable to an aux in port.
