Youtube on the 6800 - Works using the latest Flash 7 for PPC

Youtube on the 6800 - anyone trying to get it to work?

http://m.youtube.com bring up the site and a warning, then when you go to the actual video you want to bring, WMP errors out cause of the codec or video type they chose to use. Maybe it would work with TCPMP?

Take a look at this http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...9&postcount=25 . It does work, if you can get your phone to boot properly (which i was able to a few time). After I installed this my device continuously reboots and *sometime* boots up fully into windows mobile. Currently the device has gone though this reboot cycle about 25 times and still has not gotten into windows. I've posted the problem in the same forum above: http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...3&postcount=40

I'm not sure though if the problem is related to the RvBCrS_HTC_Streaming_Media.cab player. I ran into this problem a few days back after installing a different application. It might be the act of installing the an application that caused this program to arise. Anyone else have this issue?

Edit:

I now seem to be able to boot if I remove the microsd card. Im wonder if the streaming app has some dependency on the cab file which is stored on my microsd card.

Also this holding the red "End" key while booting seem to stop the reboot cycle. It is discussed here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...49&postcount=4

Resolved issue! Apprently this application is trying to do something on bootup, causing the continuous hanging. I found away around.

1. If you are having trouble getting into windows either remove your microsd card or hold the red "hangup" button down while booting

2. Once booted, use a file browser to navigate to \Windows\AppMgr and rename the folder "RvBCrS HTC Streaming Media" to something different. I named it to "RvBCrS HTC Streaming Media.foo" . Not sure if this is going to cause other problems, but so far I haven't seen any problems adverse side effects.

Edit:

Also uninstalling the app and reinstalling the app seem to work sometimes. Very strange issue.

Hmm, seems like a lot of trouble? I also found this when using TCPMP:

Linley Meslier has a nice bit of news over at Pocket PC Mauritius...

"Very often, I get people asking me if there is a way to play flash files on a Pocket PC [...] The good news is that this is now possible if you use TCPMP. A new plugin is available at http://sourceforge.net/project/showf...roup_id=196939. That will let you download Youtube video directly to your PPC and play the flash file without conversion."

The link doesn't work dmackdaddy :p

Have you (or anyone) been able to sucessfully download video and watch it? Being able to stream it would be ideal though. I read in some forums that a few people were able to stream youtube video; however, I don't remember the details or the forums...

It is really not that much trouble considering what you need to do if you use the Youtube download app:

1. Browse to the youtube page, copy the file id
2. open the Youtube download app, paste in the file id. Begin download
3. wait for download to comple
4. Open TCPMP and navigate to the downloaded file, and play. Whew!

The method which the xda-developers forum describes streams seamlessly from the m.youtube.com and PIE. It may have been a fluke with my install that caused the reset problem initially. Later I just uninstaller and reinstalled and it work with out doing the renaming business.

Well... there's a couple of options, the Treo 750 was created by HTC and they have an app called Streaming Player (plays RTSP videos on WMP), I tried to make it work on the 700wx and it did not work.

I will try when I have a change on the Mogul, in the meantime, there's this...
