Symantec Mobile AntiVirus 4.0 on WM6 (working)

I finally got Symantec Mobile AntiVirus 4.0 working with WM6. The software installs just fine on WM5 but won't install on WM6. However, if you copy the 3 folders (listed below) from a WM5 installation and then apply the reg entry (attached), it runs like a champ.

Program Files\Symantec AntiVirus
Program Files\Symantec LiveUpdate
Program Files\SymEvent

Incidentally, you can purchae a single user license for Symantec Mobile AntiVirus 4.0 from Symantec directly by visiting either of these links:

http://shop.symantecstore.com/store/...uctID.61928100

http://shop.symantecstore.com/DRHM/s...uctID=61928100

Or, get a site license from here:
http://shop.symantecstore.com/store/...0/Currency.USD

Anyway, I purchased a single-user license. The original link that I received was for the old version of mobile anti-virus. Apparantely, they were hosting the wrong installation file on the website. I had to call Symantec and have them send me a corrected link via e-mail. Took me over two months to get the right software (4.0 for WM5).

Even if viruses were a legit threat for PDAs, I'd rather hard reset once a week than install a piece of Symantec's over-priced bloatware on my phone.

And that is why there's absolutely no reason to get a virus scanner for a PDA of any sort. If I remember right, there's like one virus out there (and it's concept only at that) right now.

A complete waste of money and system resources IMHO.

Why not get a copy of SPB Backup and simply back up your phone daily or weekly until you actually *get* a virus?!

I have to agree with the other comments. My first reaction was, "why use up all those system resources for an antivirus program?!"

It's kinda a novelty to be running Windows without needing A/V!

I'll curse myself by saying so, but I NEVER run AV on any of my Windows PCs. Let's just say that I know what I'm doing and know what to do incase something does happen (which it never has).

The Norton AntiVirus program takes 199.81 KB of memory. It my opinion, it's not that much.

That's amazing. But if you ever get one of your PC's on the internet, watch out!

Just joking ya. That is truly an amazing claim, however.
