WTF is wrong with TCPMP?

The Mogul can't play a 320x240 25 fps XVID. It stutters and gets about 3fps.

When I benchmark it reports 50 fps but thats wrong.

Even the treo 650 could handle one of these files.

What's going on?

If it can't play videos its going back.

I let Windows Media Player convert a WMV9/VC1 file and transfer it, and playing in Windows Media Player I was lucky to get the visual equivalent of 1fps. This has me worried, as well.

I'm not sure I'm ready to return the device over it, because I really wasn't planning on sharing my phone's battery life with multimedia uses much anyway, but it's still bothersome. I was planning on using this as a stopgap until I pick out the replacement for the Creative Zen Vision: M my wife killed.

Make sure that you're using the correct video decoder in TCPMP. DirectShow doesn't work.

Changing the settings in TCPMP made my video play a lot better.

In TCPMP Go to Options -> Video
Now choose a "Video Driver" other than "DirectDraw" from the list. Both the "Raw FrameBuffer" and "GDI" worked much better than the default.

Hopefully this works for others as well. I watched half of a movie using the "GDI" option and it ran alright (from the SD card). I was happy with the playback.

The only thing I would complain about is that the sound seems slightly off--but only in some parts, and it was hard to tell at that--and during some fast moving parts, it was a little choppy. I only tried one movie file so far so it could just be the file or that I'm running from the SD card--thought I'd mention it anyway.

I tried CorePlayer and it has the same behavior until you change it to GDI. Then it works fine.
