Garmin Mobile Xt Freeze Fix!!!!!!!!

For everyone using the mogul with the latest Garmin Mobile XT...if you're phone is freezing on the launch of the Garmin program....this is why....

your backlight is turning off causing it to freeze....but WAIT!!!...before you go leaving your backlight on perm....(which didn't fix the problem for me)

Go under the Garmin Mobile XT Settings---->Change Comm 4 to Intermediate Driver

I repeat...do this under Garmin!...NOT your main phone settings!!!!

FIXED!!!

Re: Garmin Mobile Xt Freeze Fix!!!!!!!!

hate to disagree with you but ive been running XT for some time and the lockup has nothing to do with the backlight. i have my backlight setup for 3min in the power settings and mine still locks up every once and a while. its not often but a soft reset fixes it.

Re: Garmin Mobile Xt Freeze Fix!!!!!!!!

Good!...glad people have found it to be useful!......it does work and mine hasn't frozen since I changed it to the driver months ago.....so if you do it right it should work fine. And yes the backlight did come into play because if you notice, with the Comm 4 driver and latest Garmin Mobile...the cell phone will load fine until the backlight comes on......when it does...it freezes....common error known by many

Re: Garmin Mobile Xt Freeze Fix!!!!!!!!

not sure what you mean about the backlight coming on. mine is on when i push the power button when i want to actually do something with my phone. again, my backlight doesnt change while XT is booting. its always on when XT is running because it never cuts off between firing up XT and XT loading.

I was about to downgrade to 10W after installing 20W and running into the startup freeze on my HTC Vogue. Then I searched and found this thread.

Your suggestion worked. Awesome! Thanks!

BTW, a faster way to get to the GPS settings...
  1. On the Mobile XT "main" page with "Where to?" and "View Map" buttons.
  2. Tap the Signal Strength Bars (or No GPS icon) in the upper left.
  3. Click "Disable".
  4. Click "Use GPS Intermediate Driver".
  5. Click "Enable".
  6. Click "Done".

Re: Garmin Mobile Xt Freeze Fix!!!!!!!!

Well when I change to immediate driver the clock changes to 700 pm. So I can't use this fix. Are there any others? Using 5.00.20w Now it is freezing constantly when I try to change it back to com4. This sucks
