Re: I need a cold sync cable.

you want a mini-usb with a broken power pin?

I don't think anyone will sell you one, but you could always buy a cheap mini-usb cable and break the pin yourself.

Kill pin 1 for sure, should not need to kill pin 5.

Re: I need a cold sync cable.

Yeah, every cable I ever had was a data and changing cable because the USB port itself puts out 5VDC. However, (even though I doubt it) I would look for a USB cable that came with a device that doesnt need powering by a USB such as a printer. Cross your fingers though because I think you are out of luck.

Re: I need a cold sync cable.

Can I use this cord to use my phone as a modem? If so can someone give me instructions on doing so without going thru sprint. Please, Thanks

Re: I need a cold sync cable.

id try the power pin option..sounds like your best bet..or try a dock instead of a cable.. my dock syncs but only charges if its plugged into the wall as well...

also to the poster above me who asked about using the cable for "phone as modem"... this is called tethering.. illegal tethering is included in the language about cloning... id be careful what questions you ask, both are high illegal and prohibited

Re: I need a cold sync cable.

Maybe he pays for PAM?

Edit... you would get less battery life using PAM without power then you'd get runtime on the laptop, I would think....

Re: I need a cold sync cable.

You would probably do better finding other ways to save power on your laptop... USB doesn't draw that much power...

Try turning down birghtness, aero when on battery (if on Vista), and a few other sly tricks and you'll probably net the same or more time than you would going to extreme measures to kill power to your phone. Not to mention the phone won't last long with 3G tethering with no backup powering source.
