The first thing that I would do is get the aGPS functionality working with anything that uses the GPS. I use Live Search to navigate with and it works great. The Alltel Navigation software that comes with the 6.1 upgrade works well also, but after the free 30 day trial it is 9.99 per month. Live Search is free. Google maps works OK (IMHO,) but Live Search works better. Here is the link to the thread to walk you through getting the aGPS functionality up and going. It works exactly as the thread says. Good Luck.

I'm in the same boat, with alltel. I would like to strip out alot of the things they have in there that I do not use. I have been on here for a few weeks now trying to learn how to do different things to the phone. i haven't really found a true step by step guide for a complete noob starting out.

I would actually try flashing an aftermarket ROM. There is a thread by GaMedic in the upgrades section.
