can't bring up text messages

Just started tonight, I am unable to bring up text messaging or messaging at all. I have tried from the menu and contact list to send text message, does not bring anything up.. just does nothing.. tried turning off and back on, no go. Not receiving new text messages either.. or if I am it does not tell me. ideas?

by turn off and on you mean soft reset? or just powered off the screen.

turned it off. I just tried again, took battery out for 10 or so minutes.. back on and now appears to be working. odd.

ya taking the battery out does the same as a soft-reset, as far as i know. but ya that is a little odd.
