text message cut off
 

i know that the limit for a sms is only 160. the problem i have have ran into is people sending me messages over that and not getting the rest of the message. is there a way to get a larger capacity or make it split the message up so i can read the whole thing. running the new alltel 6.1 rom.

That's likely a problem with the carrier. There have been times when I was meant to receive multiple texts, but they didn't come until I sent another text message.

As for splitting the messages up, the carrier does it automatically (in 160 character chunks), and sends them as separate texts. There's no way to increase the size because of the way SMS works.

I haven't had that problem. Call *611 options 3 and 0 for Tech Support. If you don't get anywhere ask for the data department.

ok after a few experiments my friends and i who have titans can send over 160 and it splits just fine. if any of our other friends who have razrs, hues and other phones after it hits 160 it comes up with "preceding message was modified to comply with this handset. media objects were removed. i got this message by send a message from my dads phone which is a razr. we are both on alltel. i am running the new stock 6.1 rom from alltel.

I got that from my friend's Scoop before. Their phone may need updating.
