How in increase signal strength?

Hello, I get terrible signal strength on my 6800 compared to my old razr. Is there anything I can change to get better signal strength? My zip code is 48878 and I'm on Alltel. I have done the *228 option 2 and 3.

ROM Version 3.56
Rom Date 06/16/08
Radio 3.35.04

Thanks

Well im not sure if this is going to work but u can try it tho... You can find this at Target they sell some stickers on the wireless area that are to increase your signal strength basically you stick it on the back part of the phone where the battery is at.. like i said im not sure if this is going to work but you can try it and they usually cost like around $15 and comes with 2 of them

Re: How in increase signal strength?

Upgrade to the latest radio (which is 3.42.xx) and prl.

That might give you a couple of bars realistically.

Re: How in increase signal strength?

Thanks for the suggestions. I did some research on those stickers and they say that it doesn't help much if at all. I may try it anyways though, and I'm about to start updating my radio and rom as I speak, well type.

They don't help at all. These products are snake oil at best. People have done studies (I suggest reading http://www.andybrain.com/extras/cell...w-and-test.htm) to show that they are completely useless.

Do NOT waste your money on those. If anything, try buying an external antenna that you can attach your mogul to.

Re: How in increase signal strength?

I have Alltel and the 6800 and yeah reception sucked on the 3.37 radio. I flashed via SD card the 3.42.50 radio (there is a thread by GaMedic with directions in the Upgrades section) and it works better. Where I didn't have reception enough to maintain a phone call in the sheltered parts of our local mall, I can now.
