Angry Backlight flickering, what do i do!

Hello all, I'm new here but not to electronics so much. I just bought a mogul (privately, no warranty) and the back lighting will flicker off and on. It stays normal if you do not go past the second bar on the slider but if you go past that it will go to that brightness for a second or two (completely random) then flickers and goes back to no back lighting and sits there and flickers like it's trying to go to the correct brightness. Does anyone know what I need to do? I have the stock ROM (newest version) and have only done the custom slider sound edit. It did this before any of that though so it should not be that. I'm thinking it's the screen, anyone know for sure?

Thanks for your help guys, I really need it. I love this phone and don't wanna have to go back to my old one.

Hey Nuthin:
Since you do not have much going on on your Mogul do a hard reset. However please make sure you do a back up b/c all your data will be gone whether it it contacts, application you installed or anything you added to the stock Rom. I tend to think it may be hardware, but give it a shot.
If you don't have a back up software ,it may be time you get one. Look for pimback up(free),sprite back up (gives you a trail) or Spb back up(gives you a trial too).
Good luck dude,it will be fine.

Re: Backlight flickering, what do i do!

Thanks for the advice. Not sure if it'll work, when I got the phone it was an older version on the Rom, I called HTC and they told me to upgrade my Rom, which I did. It still did it.

On a good note, I got a hold of the guy and he's going to replace the phone so now I don't have to worry .

Just did a hard reset and the stupid thing still does it so it looks like a hardware issue. Oh well, I'm getting another one. Thanks for the help.

Re: Backlight flickering, what do i do!

I Bought an used one and it was flickering weird, and also it would flicker more when touching the screen. I tought i bought a bad one, but when i flashed a new rom, the problem disappeared. you could try pushing a stock sprint on it before you change it. Unless its a brand new one and you can change it for no charge
