Any reason NOT to flash to MR1 on xv6800?

I've never flashed my phone before but have done lots to my PSP. In that world you end up with new revisions patching doorways that hackers are using to make the device more useful. So upgrading is not always good.

So that's why I'm a little shy of MR1. Will it prevent me from doing anything "cool" with the Titan down the road? I'll probably eventually move to a custom ROM anyway, but I wanted to be sure before I did anything.

I like what I'm reading here about the aGPS enabling on MR1. Now if I could just get WMWifiRouter working.

Many thanks!

Isn't that the Verizon update that only allows the GPS to work in vz navigator??

Re: Any reason NOT to flash to MR1 on xv6800?

I would suggest unlocking your device and building your own custom ROM. If you follow the steps in my tutorial then follow the steps in the Verizon GPS thread you will have a ROM that you like with a GPS that locks super fast.

Re: Any reason NOT to flash to MR1 on xv6800?

I agree with GaMedic. I didn't build my own ROM, I used dcd's latest mainly out of curiousity. Now that I see how well it works, I may well bo back & build my own.

I did all the aGPS mods & I get a 6-8 satellite lock almost immediately (it will lock before Google maps has time to open & works perfectly in CoPilot Live 7....)

Re: Any reason NOT to flash to MR1 on xv6800?

I would not just for the GPS flashing problem. Just update your radio through your SD card to 3.42.50, do the QPST hack, and find a nice 6.1 ROM and cook your own.

Re: Any reason NOT to flash to MR1 on xv6800?

If you are nervous about using a custom ROM for DCD or others, the flash to MR1. It is better than the 6.0 WM and worth the upgrade. But, even if you do upgrade to MR1, go to xda-developers and get the stuff to get the GPS working on 6.1. Simple to install and works like a dream.

Re: Any reason NOT to flash to MR1 on xv6800?

Has anybody upgraded to the verizon windows mobile 6.1 and been able to get WMwifirouter to work? If you had problems getting wmwifirouter to work with the new verizon windows mobile 6.1, were you able to get it to work? Please explain how you got it to work if you were able to

Re: Any reason NOT to flash to MR1 on xv6800?

I'm using WMWifirouter version 1.2, it works fine on my XV6800 WM6.1 MR1. It works better than my old i760, the i760 is being recalled, so that's how I got the XV6800 replacement.
