green & silver phone button dead?

Over the last few months, the green and shiny silver phone button has slowly stopped working. Gradually, I've had to push it harder each time I need to use it. Presently, I can barely get it to function unless I am squeezing it down with all the pressure I can possibly muster. My phone is out of warranty so I can't just get a quick swap and I don't have phone insurance from Sprint. My questions are:

1) is there a way to open this thing up and possibly clean the contacts for the button?

2) will Sprint help out at all if I bring it to a Sprint store? charge me a nominal fee for repairs, perhaps?

Thanks

I don't know if they have had any luck repairing this type of failure at the repair facilities. This is a common issue.

In the mean time use AEButton Plus to emulate pressing the green phone button. You can assign it to another key, such as the windows or soft keys.

Re: green & silver phone button dead?

It should be a free fix because of warranty. Before you go in make sure you relock and flash a stock ROM.

Re: green & silver phone button dead?

Well, like I said, my phone is now out of warranty (more than 1 yr old). Are you guys saying they will still repair this even though it is more than 1 yr old?

Re: green & silver phone button dead?

Get some! In the meantime reroute the button to your Start button. Give it a month or so and wait for something to totally go wrong or something to happen and get a new one.
