Thumbs up Partial progress on the NEVO Remote control software and the Mogul

Hi guys, I dont know if you know that to test a remote control you use a camera ( any camera ). Just look at your IR port , or your IR LED on your remote control through the screen of you camera and you will see the white light coming out of it. So that's what I did with my mogul. I was messing up with the REG keys under the NEVO software and got IR activity using COM port 1 and IR Plataform 1. The IR actually blinks when pressing keys on the nevo. That is some progress, the software is really talking to the hardware. I did notice that the intensity of the beam is quite weak ( like everybody says ) but, that is pretty much the same as my old XV6700 was. It should work ( not from to far, but it should ) i did not have the patience to try on my Samsung TV, it had 47 options for you to try the codes. Is there anyways to LEARN ir? this way we can test if the program receives IR data. Is there any hacks to boost IR signals? maybe it's a battery saver reg key or something... let's try to make this thing work!

Re: Partial progress on the NEVO Remote control software and the Mogul

It doesn't matter if it works or not.
It's IrDA. The LED's effective range is not even a few feet. You'd have to sit with your phone like 2 feet away from the TV for it to do anything (possibly closer depending on the brand of device, thickness / opaqueness of the IR lens, etc).

I have a Sony Clie TG50. It has a long range IR LED. Most programs could only use the IrDA functionaliy, because the long range IR drivers were proprietary to Sony. Finally someone hacked them, and aftermarket remote control programs were able to go more then 2 feet. More like up to 20 feet often.

Most devices do NOT have long range IR, including the Titan. It has no need to have long range IR - that's not what the IR port is meant for. The Clie's had long range IR, because Sony INCLUDED universal remote software (though it only really worked well with Sony products of course). It was a selling point.

There are many threads about this already, the reason no one is replying is because most people already know of this limitation and have seen this posted before.

Re: Partial progress on the NEVO Remote control software and the Mogul

Well it doesn't matter for me how far or how close I have to be, as long as it works.I dont want my mogul as a Professional automation all in one remote control. I just wanna have a back-up of all my devices and in case i lose or i cant find one of my remotes i have it on the phone to perform a quick command. My only question is if it works or not. Low signal, high signal, 2 feet, 200 feet. doesnt matter... does it send IR and Receives ( Learn ) IR commands? anyone tried?
