GPS- is it the ROM or RADIO that affects lock?

can we get this cleared up...

is our GPS connection affected by the ROM or the RADIO?

it seems that whenever im reading about a new rom that comes out people are always reporting their gps connection speeds. and whenever im reading about a new radio thats out, i see similar posts with people telling about their gps connection speeds.
-one or the other? both?

i think it's both. reason i say that is cuz you'd need both to improve GPS locks.

mostly its the location of where people are.. some locations (god knows why!!?) get faster locks than other locations (even with clear views at both locations) i believe its just latest update of radio = better locks.. and new rom gps drivers might help too

Every firmware that is released is different.

As each update gets released the GPS lock time should get better especially if your Cell Provider added AGPS to the ROM. The newer ROM's have newer drivers that help in the (wakening ) of the GPS Signal. Others were slower in doing so and that is why the lock times where longer.

I personally don't use AGPS but instead have a good enough lock time of 15 to 45 seconds on my XV6800. It varies if I use baffles ( this gets me a quicker lock but it does drain your battery)
