Best GPS Program

Hey,
I was just wondering what the best free GPS program out there. I'm looking for one that has turn by turn directions. Also does anyone know of a program that you can text your phone and it will reply automatically the location of it. I've heard that Navizon has that option but I would prefer not to use Navizon. Any suggestions would be great! Thanks.

I use smartphone tracker for locating by text. Should be able to do a search and find the cab.. For gps are you wanting spoken turn by turn directions or just a list of the directions, for the latter Live Search and Google Maps will work well and both can interact with the internal gps so you can get directions from your current position.

Hey thanks. I'm going to check out the live. I have used google maps but I don't like how the directions don't follow the gps, so you have to manually tell google maps that you have already taken that turn instead of it using the gps to figure that out.

Smartphone tracker is to locate your phone when you can't find it.. Also works great if you have a "teenager" son or daughter and want to locate them..

What is this spam day? Youve posted in several threads saying nothing but THX and have the time it isnt even related to the topic at hand?

As for my answer/opinion to the thread, dont forget Google Maps and try Google Latitude.

US: IGuidance
UK: TomTom

I use Iguidance + GoogleMaps.
Iguidance's is not good if you want a specific POI (eg. If you are looking for Circuit city, it gives you a list of CCs but not ordered by distance). It works if you are looking for a generic retail electonics. IGuidance does have an option to look for a specific POI but it doenst work for me in 4.0

Googlemaps: it is light weight, faster. Also it gives you more info like rating, phone number (lets you call with a one button click), traffic info, the good google maps ajax interface. If only it had
- voice prompt
- route recalulation
so you have to use both.

I have this question and have created a thread for it. does anybody else have this problem of GPS signal detection after resuming from stanby in Mogul(sprint - 3.35 ROM)? Is there a work around to this in this ROM?

Hi..

I have the Titan 6800, and the best program I tested so far is Garmin Mobile XT.. This program gives everything you need, including turn by turn directions, supports many languages speech, and even can put your contacts into the map, and assign them the location so the program can lead you there..

Depending of the map (I'm on Venezuela, and it's very complete), you even can have ATM's, restaurants, police departments, fire departments, supermarkets... Almost everything....

Of course, and as you specify very well in your post, looking for the best program FREE, this is not... But you can find it through the web, and others post... The difficult part, is getting the map where you live, but I'm pretty sure there is one...

Anyway, it's just an opinion...

Bye..
