Viewing pics from email.

I'm running the 3.56 ROM from about a month ago and since my phone was fairly new I can't remember if the old ROM was able to do this or not.

But now when I get an email with pics attached to them and I try to open them it says the file is unrecognized and that I need to open them up with the designated program or something like that?? It also does this if the pics are not in one of the "My pictures" folders. So I have to download them first and save it in my pictures folder THEN open up HTC photo album to be able to view it.

I thought that you could open a picture no matter where it is stored on your phone and that it would automatically open it up with the default picture viewer program. I have the HTC photo album app if that makes a difference.
