Anybody using Orb to stream Audio & Video?
http://www.orb.com/en
Looks interesting and I'm wondering if I'll be able to stream Tivo files that I've moved to my PC. Kinda like a slingbox without the slingbox.... maybe? Anyone using it? Does it work? Is it reliable? What do I need on my xv6800 to view/listen? |

You need to search using orb* Not sure why, because it does meet the minimum letter requirement.

Re: Anybody using Orb to stream Audio & Video?
I have been using orb for several months now and can't complain. I put a TV Tuner card on my pc at home so I don't miss games while I am away from home.

Anybody know if videos are actually playing on your PC or just streaming from it? I would like to set it up on an old PC (low power & low fans) but it can't play everything I throw at it. Just wondering what the system resources needed are. |

I could be wrong but I'm almost 100% sure that the file you are streaming is not and does not have to be playing on the host computer. Just streaming! anyone want to share their music or videos? i had orb or winamp remote (same thing) but long story short... it took a dump. maybe this isn't a realistic question but would anyone be nice enough to offer up their media?!

Re: Anybody using Orb to stream Audio & Video?
You can find the reqs on Orb's website... I think, www.myorb.com. google "orb video" and you'll find it. The system needs to have a decent amount of processing power, because it's transcoding on-the-fly. So an older 'stored in the closet' system likely isn't going to cut it.
I've had good luck with music, but video is more of a challenge to get a decent framerate. Anyone has configuration / buffering tips, I'm interested. Your mileage may vary.
