newbie questions...

sorry I've been reading all over this site and its all a little bit overwhelming to be honest, i've just upgraded to my mogul after a longtime moto q user, everything seemd alot simpler on the q but now its a whole new ballgame, basically i have a basic ppc, my carrier is us cellular which doesn't provide any upgrades or services i don't even have gps, i want to get into upgrading the roms but i first want to know why and what are the benefits to doing so, my main goal is to have gps on this thing...so if anyone can provide me any insight on what are the advangtages of upgrading my rom or even if you can suggest any ones that i may want or need please let me know, or if you can point me in the direction of acheving my goal of finally having gps capabilities i would appriciate that too..
thanks in advance guys!

Re: newbie questions...

First off, I can tell you that the benefits of upgrading or changing your ROM are many depbending on what you get. Some ROMS, for instance, give you the ability to use internal GPS like you are wanting. Custom ROMS also come with a bunch of programs and other goodies built right in.
I know that it can be very overwhelming at first but you have to keep reading until you feel confident to start flashing. I would start here http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=32382 and absorb as much as you can.
Good luck and have fun geeking out,
Yamus
