Trouble Connecting to PC

Well, i haven't sync'ed my Mogul with my computer for about a month, ever since i got a good ROM i liked on it. I plugged it in today and nothing happened. The orange light still comes on, so its charging, but neither the phone nor activesync recognizes that its plugged in. Windows does not even make the "new device" sound. So do you guys think this is a software problem, or a is my connector busted? I have re-installed activesync 3 times, and used a microsd card to reset my phone to a stock ROM with no luck. I have also tried it on 4 different computers with nothing either. Any ideas?

Re: Trouble Connecting to PC

I've had the same problem. it doesn't sync here at work, though it starts out like it's going to, but then it doesn't. At home though, it works fine. I don't know what the true deal is though.

Re: Trouble Connecting to PC

Yea, i've run into that before. the biggest reason i'm thinking its the hardware is because windows dosen't detect anything pluged in. i have never had it do that before. But since the cahrger works i'm baffled.

Re: Trouble Connecting to PC

suggestion:

make sure, on your phone's active sync settings. (menu, connections.), that the 'Synchronize all PC's using this connection' box is checked, and USB is displayed in the dropdown box.

Re: Trouble Connecting to PC

Have you tried using a different USB cable. If it doesn't work with a different cable and/or on different computers I would think it is probably a hardware problem. Since the part of the USB cable that charges is seperate pins from the part that does data it does not rule out hardware by being able to charge. Good Luck.

Re: Trouble Connecting to PC

Go to Settings, Connections. Click on USB to PC and UNCHECK the "Enable advanced network functionality". Works everytime.

Re: Trouble Connecting to PC

All good suggestions above. Man do I hate ActiveSync/WMDC though. Flaky to say the least, even after all of the above suggestions. One other thing you can try: blow out/gently clean the USB connector on your phone. An almost unnoticeable build up of dust/lint has kept me from connecting in the past.

Re: Trouble Connecting to PC

also look in device manager while the phone is plugged in. delete the pocktpc from device manager, scan for new hardware, let it check windows update for driver.
