Is there a way to change the direction pad?

I wonder if there is a way to mod the mogul to change the direction pad. I am not sure how to do it but it shouldn't be to hard, right? I find it very hard to play games using this. I don't know if its actually the direction pad or how close it is to the buttons. Anyway, does anyone think this is possible?
