Updated ROM?

I just purchased a used PPC-6800 Mogul from an individual. As I understand it, WM 6.1 is not "officially" available on the Mogul yet, but there are several hacked/updated ROMs out there which are correct? The phone has WM 6.1 on it, and when powering on in the bottom says "Test Only Not For Sale" and then some red letters/numbers overlayed over it.

I'm guessing that it is an update ROM. Any way to tell which? I would guess those red letters/numbers would indicate which? If I go into the Device Information screen I see the following:

ROM version: 3.49.651.0
ROM date: 04/19/08
Radio version: 3.3910
Protocol version: DCAAXAM-4350H
Hardware version: 0003

And then serveral other things.

I suppose my most important question is, if I can, how do I reset the phone back to the standard Sprint ROM? With the impending official update to 6.1 coming from Sprint in the next month or two, I'd rather have the real deal on the phone.

Thanks in advance!

Re: Updated ROM?

You can just go to the HTC website ---->http://www.htc.com/us/FAQ_Detail.aspx?p_id=75&act=sd
If i was you though...i would leave the custom rom on your mogul untill the new rom rolls around. i think your gonna be unhappy if you take a step back to the OEM rom. after using 6.1 i dont think i could go back.

Re: Updated ROM?

Thanks for the quick response..

Ok, two follow up questions then:

1) How can I tell what ROM I have?

2) Will there be any problem going from a non-OEM ROM to the official Sprint 6.1 ROM once it's available?

Re: Updated ROM?

1. There is no way to know exactly what custom rom you have. (as far as i know...)
2. There will be no issue updating to the oem rom (if it ever comes out...haha)
By the way...Congrats on the new Mogul. Its an addictive little device. Now all you have to do is fill it to the gills with all sorts of fun apps and games and what not.

Re: Updated ROM?

The ROM you have is most likely this one referred to here : http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=26119

It is really the best "Stock" release yet...
I usually use it unless I am bored and then I run something from No2Chem or DCD for a day or two. I always end up coming back though.

Judging by your rom version, radio, and the fact that you have the test rom splash screens. It's not so much a custom rom, as it is a leaked beta test rom directly from sprint.

If it's working good for you, go ahead an keep it until the official update comes from sprint. I do however recomend at least trying a custom rom. You may find that it works out a lot better for you.

Re: Updated ROM?

Thanks for all the responses and info guys. I'm not a complete smartphone virgin having moved over from a Q9c. So far I think I'm going to enjoy the Mogul. I've already loaded it up with a lot of my apps, sMMS, Opera, TCPMP (w/Flash), Skyfire, etc.

Looking at that link above, that may very well be the ROM I have. It has all the things listed, large HTC start menu, SprintTV, and seems to run VERY good. It's actually smoother and more responsive than the official 6.0 and/or 6.1 were on the Q9c.
