Ok so I tried to update my ROM...NOW I NEED HELP ASAP!

I went to update my ROM (the original 2. something) to 2.27.4.3

I followed all the directions EXACTLY!

It started the update process and everything seemed to be going smoothly

I saw a progress bar on my phone

Then it says:

"The update utility cannot be used for your PDA phone. Please check your update utility"

IT ERASED MY PHONE!

What do I do now? I see you have updates here but I dont know if I can use them now bc I dont have the original ROM. I dont know where my CD is right now.

Soooo what do I do? Please dont tell me to read the threads...Just help me!

I imagine you don't need the unlocker for an official ROM update. Hmmmmm.....have you tried booting the phone into the bootloader & retrying the process? No matter what, your data's gone, so either an official ROM, or a cooked one won't hurt you anymore than it has already.

Dude, I think you are mixing apples and oranges together. If you are using an HTC update for a sprint phone, then I dont think you should be accessing material from this site.... let me elaborate (and I may be wrong) ... The software on this site uses unloclkers to hack the radio version and allow upgrading the OS ROM to a cooked or custom OS. The file you downloaded from the HTC site for your SPRING phone would run by itself and do all o the needed updates to keep YOUR SPRING phone to HTC and SPRINT specs. If you UNLOCKED the phone and updated the bootloader to the UNLOCKED version then I DO NOT believe the origion SPRING / HTC software will load correctly if even at all as it is looking for the origional Sprint Bootloader. If in essence you did not mess with the bootloader from here then this is problem for the HTC / SPRINT team/Site to help debug. there may be people here that can help but make sure you tell them you are using origional software and not cooked roms or kitchens as these will not work unles you updated the bootloader. If you updated the bootloader and are trying to go back to the origional then i think you need to relock the bootloader.

ok i dont even know what happened....i downloaded something from another forum and my phone restarted and my ROM i guess was still there...but everything is gone...wtf lol

the first thing you should do is to flash the official updated ROM for your Mogul, if you are on Sprint you need this one:

That is the official Sprint updated ROM for the Mogul which is the first level of GPS functionality. This ROM does not need any specific Bootloader, it should work with any of them. After you flash to the 3.xx roms you can use the 2.40 Olipro unlocker to allow yourself to Flash custom ROMS.

This is the flashing guide for the Mogul.

As always, flashing ROMS removes all of your personal information, including Contacts, Calendar appointments, Tasks and Emails.

These items can be synced prior to flashing and then restored after flashing.

With regard to flashing on Vista, use the WMDC 6.1 and run your computer with UAC turned off and you should have no problems with the RUU (rom update utility) completing the flash. I generally use the SD Card with custom ROMs but if you use a kitchen or an OEM ROM you do need to connect your Mogul to a PC.
