Mogul PC charging qestions/problem?

I try to charge my Mogul here at work on my PC. I have Activesync on my main PC running XP Pro. Well when I plug in the phone all is ok but the phone basically constantly wakes up and I hear the plug and play "duh dunks" constantly. I have to continuously put the phone back to sleep so it will charge. I have tried to kill Activesync thinking it was constantly polling the phone but it's still a no go. I also have a Vista laptop and have tried it. It doesn't have a seperate activesync app but it appears it's part of Vista. I have the same issue on it. I want to just charge the darn phone and quit waking it up. Any thoughts?

Thanks in advance.

BTW, it's a totally stock Mogul with the latest genuine ROM installed.

Re: Mogul PC charging qestions/problem?

If you have other PCs at work without Activesync, you can plug your phone in, cancel the hardware wizard if it appears, and the USB port will charge the phone. Not really a solution to your problem but it's slight workaround...

Welcome Here......................(Your First Post)

Try to click Start - Programs - ActiveSync. Then on the bottom right click Menu - then Connections.....
Try to uncheck the Synchronize all PC's using this connection.

Thanks for the welcome.

I can't find that option anywhere in ActiveSync. There isn't a menu of any sort in the bottom right. I have unchecked everything I can find in the normal options. Right clicking on the systray icon doesn't yield any additional options either. I have it set now where when I plug the phone in ActiveSync itself doesn't react to it at all.

I do get in the Device Manager a network adapter named "Windows Mobile-based Device". I have tried to disable it. However the system just adds and removes it constantly. It seems the Mogul is transmitting over and over again to the PC.

Not really answering the questing, but don't forget that charging though USB is a lot slower than charging with the charger. Same if you us a mini USB charger (like the charger for the razr). I think it's worth it to buy a charger made for the titan to have a fast charge.

Re: Mogul PC charging qestions/problem?

OK. Now the real answer lol. If you want your phone to charge but not constantly wake phone up just open active sync(plug the phone in and it will open for you). Go to File>Connection Settings. Uncheck Allow USB Connections. When you get ready for your phone to sync just go back and recheck that setting. Of course if you don't sync with that PC just leave it. Hope that answer helps.

Re: Mogul PC charging qestions/problem?

The phone shouldn't need to stay asleep to charge, it will just charge a bit slower. As for the "duh duh," just set your mogul to never go to sleep when plugged into an external power source.

Never letting sleep just makes the screen stay on. I don't know about you but i cut my screen off every chance I can. Too many stories about white spot floating around.

You can use many different peices of software to turn the screen off, and keep the phone awake.
