Is there anyway to view PIM backup files?
 

i left my phone in my friends car and now im trying to get a hold of her but i dont remember her phone number...

BUT i have the backup files on my computer...


IS THERE ANYWAY I CAN READ THEM?!?!?!

this is what i did:

1) copy your pimbackup file from your ppc or storage card to your computer

2) use winrar or something to unzip your pimbackup file.

3) open the contacts file with notepad. it should be a .pbc file

4) youll see a bunch of mumbled nonsense but in there you should be able to make out people names and numbers right after it. you should be able to find it from there.

i see no one has commented on this in a minute but has someone found a way to open these files on a computer and edit them?

Last time I did it I imported the PIMBackup file on a spare phone, loaded everything and also loaded Photo Contacts because it made a text file with all the contacts listed.
