How do you Stop the self set up files? (USCC)

Been reading up on to flash my USCC 6800 to get the GPS working. In all that reading it is mentioned to "Not let the sprint setup run"

So How do I keep the Self installing setup from running in the first place?

Re: How do you Stop the self set up files? (USCC)

Ok last but not least.......... I like the stock set up on my USCC 6800 right now for what I use.

I want to make sure that when I use BuildOS I get most of the current features reinstalled with some added.

Is there a list somewhere of the stock programs that I can chose from with out having to skip something and be like I missed it?

Re: How do you Stop the self set up files? (USCC)

couid you share which guide you will be using to help you flash? i have been looking into and doing research on this also for a few weeks. i cannot get buildos to show uscellular as a carrier in the dropdown menu. i also am with uscellular so i am curious as to getting this done myself but still am having a few problems. there is just SO MUCH information and alot of it is different. but i would like to hang with you and maybe we could help each other.
i had read somewhere (in the endless threads on this subject) about an "OEMizer" option in ppckitchenbuildos that helps to keep some of the regular options on the phone. i am sorry i cant remember where i read it though (once again i have read so much it all starts to blend together.) if i am wrong on this someone will surely correct me. please keep us other newbie uscellular wanna be flashers posted.

Re: How do you Stop the self set up files? (USCC)

Finally found some other people trying to do this stuff on USCC. I am getting ready to purchase the 6800 so if you have any tips or advice could you please send me a pm. I would really like to keep it close to stock to start with but would really like to turn on the gps feature.

Add me to the list of USCC users wanting to flash their 6800. I really don't want to brick my phone, though, so I've been lurking and reading.

Re: How do you Stop the self set up files? (USCC)

Its very scary the first time... its still scary you can't go back, but once you are past that its not bad.. just frustrating being with a low rent carrier that you can't get upgrades or help from... there is still much I don't know but never had the phone not work! if you get into trouble make sure you understand what you were doing, what the current status is and go to the chat room be courteous, patient and someone will walk you through almost anything. I had two scary events during two upgrades and two great guys helped me in 2 minutes (while I was holding my breath) and bam up and running again...
