afaik no it does not, and it shouldn't need one as all the data in the phone is stored in flash that does not need a constant power supply to keep data. you can safely let the battery run dead (or remove it for an extended period) and your phone should not lose data.

I've never heard of a backup battery that lets you use your phone when your main battery goes dead. However, when I click on the battery icon in the top bar, I get this display:

Holo hit the spot, however some phones are starting to come out that have 2 removable batteries.
not to get off topic, but It actually really makes sense, since we all have multiple batteries anyway... also i would think that 2x 1000mah batteries would ultimately outperform 1x 2000mah, as there would be less heat generated, thus extending the life of the bat.

Mine shuts off on me when the main battery dies, HKLM\System\State\Battery is where the battery is in the registry. Mine is set to 1 for backup
