Replacement Phone / Activesync Question

Hi all, due to an unfortunate incident involving my XV6800 and a bathtub, I have to set up a new unit (TG for insurance!)

I powered up the new unit, entered the owner info (same as the prior one) and hooked up to Activesync. However, it seems like Activesync thinks this is a different phone and wants to set everything up some scratch.

How to I tell it (either activesync or the phone) that "Yo, this is a replacement phone....pretend it's the other phone, and set it up as such"??

Thanks....

p.s. Verizon, still on stock ROM....I think I'll wait until the June 1 official Sprint ROM comes out and it gets evaluated and included by our ROM gurus before re-flashing....

Re: Replacement Phone / Activesync Question

All I did when I got a replacement phone was to go to Start/ Settings/ System/ About/ Device ID. I then changed the device name to match the Mobile device that is listed under Active Sync.
This is how to find your Mobile device name in Active Sync.
Open Active Sync/ File/ Mobile Device

I hope this helps

Re: Replacement Phone / Activesync Question

LOL
I just spent all day... yes 11 hours.... no kidding... 11 hours on the phone with tier 3 data support trying to figure that out.
No one could tell me that. I guess it isn't in the help file. Every time I would try to set it up it would change the name to WM_Mobile
I am going to try this and will report back!
Hope it works!!

Re: Replacement Phone / Activesync Question

Nope didn't work..... Still changed the name to WM_Owner (not WM_Mobile as stated above,,, sorry) Is there another way? I did a hard reset of the new phone before I tried the sync and changed the name to match...

Re: Replacement Phone / Activesync Question

Now I'm having a conversation with myself... LOL
I got it to work! I had to remove the existing partnership so there were no partnerships, and then changed the ID as above to the name of my old 6800. Then it synced up just fine amazingly enough!
Thanks again for the info!!!

Re: Replacement Phone / Activesync Question

all you had to do was walk through the steps and itll ask 3 options..
1) change files in comp to match device
2)change files in device to match comp(u want this)
3) sync later
