PPC 6800 Password Protects itself randomly

Anyone know why the PPC 6800 would cause itself to randomly come out of sleep, and require me to enter a password to use the phone again.

The problem is, I never password protected the phone.

This problem is related to the HTC Plugin / HTC Home Customizer.

Any ideas?

My phone has done this once, and a soft reboot fixed it. I have no idea what caused it. I do have the HTC Home plugin on my phone though...

Re: PPC 6800 Password Protects itself randomly

I have the same problem, and just about got fed up with it, randomly I logged in here and noticed this post. I haven't yet checked for a solution, but my Alltel randomly in the middle of the night, in the middle of the day, no set time, will have this white screen that says password protect. It has a countdown too for some reason. Nothing I try works. I've only had the phone for 2 weeks, direct from Alltel, and have never added a password. What is the deal? I too also have the HTC Home plug-in. When I had the 6700 with the same exact plug-in it never locked up on me.

A soft reset will fix it, but for me, only until the next time it locks up, which seems to be once a day. Any insight or help would be greatly appreciated.

Same problem here. Usually happens late at night while the phone is charging. Very odd. I also have HTC home plugin and HTCHC. This didn't happen until I updated the rom to 3.35

Re: PPC 6800 Password Protects itself randomly

This is what I tried and it hasn't happened since, maybe worth a shot:

Settings> then lock it using a simple pin. Left it on for about 24 hours, then changed it back to unlocked. Its been ok since.

Wow I have the same prob with mine as well. Always when coming out of sleep mode after its been charging. Nothing i have tried fixes it either. Does anyone have this prob who is using a cooked ROM instead of stock?

Re: PPC 6800 Password Protects itself randomly

I have the same problem. A little more insight for anyone trying to fix it. I'll get it occasionally when the phone exits sleep mode. But I've also received the error a few times while I was reading a book on the phone (Mobipocket). I'll be reading the book with the power plugged in, no LEDs, after running the 'PPC 8800 Hacks' program and shutting the LEDs off the 'charging' LED only comes on when the power is on and I toggle the standby button, so if you plug it in when the screen is on the 'charging' LED does not come on, good if you want to read in the dark. So I'll be reading the book, and the 'charging' LED will come on, and the backlight will change to a brighter setting (I had it set to lowest), when I try and toggle the standby button to correct the problem the password page will come up. Only sometimes it says "A incorrect password was entered several times....". Thing is, like everyone else I don't have a password.
